Luis Hernan Fernandez Sandoval, 31, Tragically Killed During Confrontation with Police in Wyoming, MI
Luis Hernan Fernandez Sandoval, 31, of Holland, MI, tragically lost his life in a confrontation with law enforcement on September 17th, 2025, in Wyoming, Michigan. Authorities confirm that Sandoval, accused of violating a protective order, was found armed when officers arrived at a residence on Lemyra Street SE, near Jefferson Avenue, just after 1 a.m.
The Kent County Sheriff's Office reported that officers were called to the scene after receiving information that Sandoval had breached the protective order and may have discharged a firearm inside the home. Upon arrival, officers encountered Sandoval inside the residence with a handgun. Two Wyoming police officers discharged their weapons, fatally striking Sandoval. He was declared dead at the scene.
The officers involved in the incident have been placed on paid administrative leave, as per standard procedure following such events. Investigators from the Kent County Sheriff's Office are actively gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses to understand what led to the tragic encounter. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be sent to the Kent County Prosecutor's Office for review.
