William “Shayne” Scanlan, 36, Dies Following Tragic Collision in Midtown Memphis
William “Shayne” Scanlan, a 36-year-old motorcyclist, tragically lost his life following a collision on Central Avenue in Midtown Memphis on Saturday night, September 16, 2025.
According to Memphis Police Department records, the accident occurred when a vehicle, driven by an off-duty reporter, attempted a U-turn on Central Avenue near Lindsay Street. The vehicle struck the front tire of Scanlan’s motorcycle, which was traveling in the same direction. Scanlan, who was accompanied by a female passenger, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
Family and friends are now mourning the loss of Scanlan, a beloved husband, father, and friend. He leaves behind a void in the lives of those who knew him.
The driver, Kayla Solomon, has been charged with multiple misdemeanor offenses, including failure to yield right of way resulting in death.
